Cool

I joined on March 5th when I bought a 1997 Cobra. But, I had to sell my 1993 GT to do it!

I have no regrets though. Nice looking truck.

Later, Jason

Nice. Nice. Nice.

I would love to get a Lightning, but then I would be have to face the question: What's my daily driver, and what's my weekend warrior? Knowing me, I'd end up with 2 warriors and a good pair of sneakers to walk to work everyday.

Damn! Your new job must really pay off! Congrats on the new truck!

I still have not joined the SCOA yet, cause I'm too lazy.

Talking

Dario = Darius (his actual name). I just call him that sometimes...

Thanks Kevin, I actually like it more than I thought I would for not being a "truck" person... My purchasing decision was based on needing a tow vehicle for my Stang, but also wanting something sporty with some power. This was the only thing I could see that fit that bill perfectly. If I didn't need a tow vehicle, I would have bought a new Mustang GT Convertible though!!

I know what you mean about having a truck, I bought my 99 F-150 new a few months ago with the 5.4 to tow my Mustang. Well, assuming I get the thing running that is. You will love the towing power, I do and yours has more power than mine. As far as daily driving goes I dont think I will ever own another car. The way they make trucks these days that handle just as good, if not better, than alot of cars and mine is a 4wd.

I feel alot safer. Having experienced a head on crash in my old car it sure is nice to be up in the air a little bit more.
Maybe when you get it broke in a bit you can test it at the track, for curiosity of course!

Hey cool, I see you've put a Flowmaster on your Lightning. I was assuming they would have one for it. How does it sound?

This is what ya have to do to get them to fit. No, these aren't Flowmasters or mine, but you gotta lay them on their side like this. BTW, I had the 2 chamber 40's on my '99 and when I traded it in on my '00 I missed the rumble so much I had another set on within 2 weeks. If you put them on you'll need (1)2.5" offset inlet/2.5" center outlet and (1) 2.5" center inlet/2.5" center outlet. Beats the hell out of that escort sounding stock muffler. FWIW, they make a dual in/dual out Flowmaster but some guys have complained of a blowing sound while at WOT and others have said they didn't hear it.

Hey, that look really cool. What is the part number of the flowmasters you used? Also, did you do the exhaust work yourself or did you have a shop do it. If the later, how much did they charge you? Just curious.

I'm assuming these are two chambers...

Actually the ones in the photo are of someone else's Borla's. The Flowmasters have to be installed that way though. You'll need Flowmaster(40 series,2 chamber, also the loudest) part: (1)#42541 [2.5" offset inlet,2.5" center outlet] and (1)#42540 [2.5" center inlet/2.5" center outlet]. They also have to fabricate the pipe from the muffler to the tips(I used my factory tips).

I paid $200+ tax for mine for them to install everthing, but that is an extremely good price. Estimates go as high as $400. If you do the install, take measurements on your tip placement where it exits. When it's up on the hoist they appear different than on the ground and the ones on my '99 ended up back farther than stock placement.

I'm not trying to take away from your board but if you want Lightning info there is a ton of it at www.f150online.com in the message board under the "Lightning" section. Seems most Lightning owners on the internet hang out there.

Cool, thanks for the part numbers. I definitely would like to put some Flowmaster on this thing.. Make it sound a little more like the Stang (grin).
