Do I need to change my fuel filter?
Just saw the latest issue of 5.0 Mustang and they had an article on tune ups. I just brought my 90 LX 5.0 out of 8 months of storage. 76,000 miles bought it new, and never have done a blinking thing to tune it up. Runs fine, but idles a little rough. They indicate a new fuel filter may be in order and it will also take a load off the fuel pump which is suddenly louder than I remember it being before. Any suggestions?

A fuel filter may cost about $8 and is easy to put in. You may as well do it along with the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. When I first got mine, it used to miss under a load. I did a tune up and a fuel and air filter, and it ran perfectly ever since.

Change it. You can never change it too often. You should probably change your spark plugs while you're at it. In fact, do all the stuff that 5.0 Mustang and Super Fords says.

Ditto...fuel filters are often over looked and should be a part of your normal maintenance.

You say your fuel pump is running a little loud. It might be getting a bit weak. Might look for it to be going out shortly.

Yes they are mounted just infront of the fuel tank alittle toward the driver side I believe.

The Fuel filter is nestled in front of the tank near the top of the axle hump. I recently replaced my original filter after 100K miles. Don't people realize they still have to tune up these cars??? My Stang had the following factory original parts after 11 years and 100K miles Which I have all replaced by now
Fuel filter Spark plugs Cap rotor and wires PCV valve Struts and Shocks ( Ok the backs are still there) Radiator and hoses Belt?
