1965 mustang expert needed

I have a 65 mustang conv. that does not have chrome trim under the doors, fender or quarter. I know the GTs didn't have that and have the stripe instead. Was the trim missed when the car was rehabbed? Was the chrome trim part of an option package (ie: Pony)? And should I finish it off with the trim? Thanks for your help.

not totally sure about the 65's, but I KNOW FOR A FACT that the rocker molding on my old 67 was an option. It was part of the exterior decor group, a seperate option from the deluxe interior. Like I said, I'm not as sure about a 65, but I'd be willing to bet that the molding was an option....either seperately or as part of a trim package (wheel-well chrome, door edge guards, etc.)

I took the rocker panel moldings off when I repainted and did not put them back on. If they were an option they were pretty common. Do what you think will look best.

It is my understading that in 65 the rocker pannel moldings were standard equipment on all but GT cars. I can't remeber if they came on Sprint cars or not but they didn't come out until 66 anyway. But as for putting them back on, I agree with Red, personal taste.

Rocker panel moldings were a $15.76 option in 65

Hey Jaydee,
Good info, thanks. Don't know where I got that impression but could have swore I read it some where. Well I guess never swear on a 15 year old memory.

Well im no "expert but... They were an option that most didnt take on th GT's due to the stripes included in the package. Having both may have been a 'lil over kill but remember at the time you could add as much or little as ya wanted.
