Post Crank shaft balancer loose

just last night my balancer came loose on my car. I had no idea what it was till the vibration started acting up. Then i noticed a thick black ring right behind the pully on the crankshaft. I was told it was called a balancer. Some how the screws all came out and is moving freely and wobbling.. causing the engine to vibrate. Now my question. Can i just slide it back in place and put new screws or does it have to be done or measured out in a certain way. Or calibrated more or less.. PLease let me know, as of now I'm not driving the car. going to let it sit till i get it fixed.. Aslo i its on a 95 SVT Corba. . Thanks
