Black Magic Fan

Hey guys. I'm getting ready to put my black magic fan up for sale. I'll put in the local paper for a week and then I'll put in on ebay. I'm going to put a $150 reserve on it for ebay. I paid $200 for it + $20 s&h. I'm offering it here first for $150 + s&h because you all have helped me sooo much.
I only used it for two days because it put too much drain on my battery. Iy comes with all the instructions, parts, and wiring.

why dont you just upgrade the alternator for $95 from autozone? i loke my black magic fan contrary to what some say about it. it works great for me...

I've called the local AutoZone, HiLo Oreilly, and Pep Boys. Nobody carries the Hi amp alternator. My heads were warped slightly and I think that this may have contributed to the overheating problem. I do like the fan and I don't know if it's my imagination or not, but I did feel a little more kick in the acceleration. My cars in the shop right now (water in the block and I don't feel like opening her up again) so I'm gathering some bucks for the repair. I would prefer to keep the fan and buy the upgrade alternator when I have the cash flow...is there a high output alternator for another application that can be put in the stang?

Aside from that, any takers on the fan?

Try simply for a 1994 Mustang GT alternator. They will give you the 130amp unit.

You will *slightly* have to modify the bracket. *I* did it, and I'm all thumbs. A tiny piece has to be grinded off for the larger alternator to fit.

I went with the PA Performance kit, which is excellent! There are instructions for this at www.racesystems.com and at FordMuscle.

I was looking at the pictures of your car (very nice), but noticed the belt routing. Click HERE for an alternate belt routing scheme that might get you a little more clearance without putting so much pressure on the alternator bearings.

if you call pa performance, you can get a new 95 amp 3G (no modifications required to install, though I recommend a larger gauge lead wire for safety- Ford's setup is pathetic- 2 12 gauge wires terming into one) or you could go with a new 130 amp unit and do a simple bracket mod to make it fit. You need to upgrade your lead wire with the 130. I used a 4 gauge wire and have had no probelms. pa is a good shop and the prices are very good. The flx175 is a good fan and well worth keeping. The alternator upgrade is a simple job and you will get added voltage to your ignition, fuel system, and stereo as well.

While not a horsepower or handling enhancing part, I am very happy with the upgrade and it is some of the best spent money on my 5.0.

Is the 95 alternator the same as the 94 alternator? A junkyard nearby has a working 95 alternator for $50.00. If I go to Autozone, a new lifetime warranty alt will cost me $110.00 + a $40.00 core. They won't take my current working alt as the core, so I figure that I'll get a working alternator and use it til it dies. Then when it dies, I'll take it in as the core. I know that in the long run I spend about $10.00 more, but I don't have 150.00 to spend on that right now. What do you guys think?

I would really like to upgrade my alternator to the 130 unit and get a black magic fan, but all this talk of wiring stuff worries me. Is the wiring of the alternator difficult or is this something I could do myself?

We bought a PA-PERFORMANCE 130A alt and a Black Magic fan. Both come with good instructions - just follow step by step and don't cut corners and you'll be alright to do the install.
