amp gage on 65 with (woodgrain gage system) deluxe interior

I have a 65 Mustang with original equiped deluxe interior. I was installing the intrument panel put I could not figure out how to install the amp gage. On the rear of the amp gage their is a conection piece that looks like a small water hose clamp that is attached othe this particular amp intrument. I do not know what goes there. I don't know if I am missing a piece, or if a thick black wire with an end rubber piece that is about '1 1/2 in lengnth and same diameter as the clamp on the rear of the gage, runs through this clamp. If you have installed this system of deluxe gage system you will know what I am talking about. I looked at the schematics manuel, but is seems that they have ommited or avoid explaining this intallation.
Please help me if you have the knowlege thanks in advance if you respond.
