Procharger Help
I am having some major problems with a car that I just had built. When I got the car (a '94 GT) it had GT-40 Heads, GT-40 Upper and Lower intake, 1.7 Rockers, 65mm TB, 24 lb Injectors, Kenne Belle MAF sensor and Kenne Bell Chip, Equal length headers, and a stock 302. The car made 257 RWHP during this config.
I bought this car with the intentions of putting a blower on it. I had a local shop do all of the work. My current mods over stock are as follows: GT-40 Heads GT-40 Upper / Lower, 1.7 Rockers, FMS F-303 Cam, 65mm TB, 30# Injectors, Pro-M 75mm BT MAF, Pro Charger P1SC kit (comes with 6:1 FMU, etc), MSD 6AL and MSD Coil, Chris Johnson Motorsports Chip, Equal Length Headers, Bassani X-Pipe (w/cats), Bassani Catback, Tremech 3550. The blower is making 7lbs of boost (a bit low for this kit) and the car is only making 302 RWHP when it should be making upwards of 500. I hooked up a timing light to the car and noticed that it was hitting twice through each rotation of the balancer, but that was easily fixed by tweaking the distributor. Also the wrong MAF sensor was on the car (a 75mm housing with 77mm electronics which was not calibrated for Blow Through or BT). I replaced the MAF sensor with the proper one and reset the computer. The car does not idle surge and die anymore and I have noticed a bit of increase in power, but have not seen anywhere near 200HP. I have had several shops look at the car and can not seem to find anything wrong when obviously there is. I am not loosing compression on the car as many have suggested. I don't really know what to check anymore. I guess it could be a timing problem or ignition problem or maybe even a fuel problem (even though it read .83 on the Lambda meter). I would appreciate to a great extent any help that anyone could provide. I spent upwards of $10,000 and gained 45 HP. The dyno graph was not smooth at all, in fact it spiked about 20 times through out the run and the car bucks badly especially when on the highway. Thanks for any help. |

I would have the car looked at by a speed shop/Mustang specialty shop in your area. The car should be making 400 HP - easily, probably more.
With the spiked graph, maybe you are losing spark? The blower could be "blowing" out the spark. What are you plugs gapped at? For a blower car, .035 is a good place to start. Ok, here are some basic questions (you've probably been through these before, but...): 1) Is the JMS chip "aware" of the blower (i.e. is it specially calibrated/programmed for the blower?) 2) Is your Pro-M calibrated for the injectors? 3) All clamps on tightly? 4) Is the blower belt slipping? Is the belt on tight enough? 5) Have you had a general code scan? Any codes? 6) May want to check the O2 sensors - could be bad. Just some ideas. I hope you get it worked out. E
