Looking for sage advice
Hi,
I have a 94 GT convertible. I have made some significant mods to her over the last year and a half. Now I'm getting itchy to go the turbo or supercharger route. I good use some hel from those with more experience than I. I have had the following done 331 Coast High performance iron block, forged pistons, and mild cam. 30# injectors 70 mm throttle body Ford GT heads Ford GT upper and lower manifold 1.7 rocker arms from ford racing bbk 15/8" headers 2 1/2 " exhaust system with no cats (Cats! We dont need no stinking cats!) 3.73 gears Custom programmible performance chip installed by E. J.'s in Omaha The tranny is an automatic that has been rebuilt and beefed up Currently she does 245 horse and 281 ft. lb. torque on a Mustang Dyno. She'll do 0 -60 in 5.2 seconds. I used as a fun car/ everyday driver. I would loved to get my 0-60 down in to the mid to low 4 second range. I don't race or have a desire to. I appreciate any thoughts you all may have. Redhawk331 |

Re: Looking for sage advice
For a 331 with those mods, 245 is pretty anemic. Most 331's that I see roll through my shop are in the 360hp range on my Mustang Dyno.

Re: Looking for sage advice
If by Ford GT you mean stock factory heads and intake, then that's probably where you need to concentrate your efforts. You may be able to significantly increase your performance level without resorting to a blower/turbo.

Re: Looking for sage advice
Jeff,
Thanks for your interest. I have ford GT40 heads, a CHP 331 block, and a GT 40 uper and lower manifold stup. I made an error in my dyno numbers. I'm putting out 320 hp and 340 ft pounds of torque. The setup I have runs great and I have pretty much done evertyhing that I can to it without going with a turbo or Supercharger. By the way where is Norwalk. I'm originally from Cincinnati. |

Re: Looking for sage advice
If you have the money I would go with a turbo. The question is how much hp do you want and how long is your bottom end going to hang around with that much power. If you add turbo or supercharger you could easily be approaching the limit of your current bottom end. And like Jeff said you could do a head and intake swap and see some huge gains. Wouldn't be as expensive either.
