Is a 97 V6 mustang worth modifying?
I just inheritied a 97 v6 from my grandmother who passed. Aside from being sunbleached its in good condition with 25,000 miles....no Im not kidding!!!
I feel its not truly a mustang unless it was a V8 but, with 25,000 Im not about to replace the engine. Is a 6 cylinder worth modifying? How much add on HP can I really acheive? And finally, anyone know of any good mustang mechanic's near Richmond, VA? Thanks for your response. Enjoy your 4th! |

The 96-98 sixers can't get out of their own way.
Use it as dependable transport, and keep an eye open for a good looking Fox Body on the cheap to play with....

there worth it...if you have the $$ to get the ponys out of it..and its a lot of cake to do that...and a mustang is a mustang even tho its a six...how do you think they felt back then with the SVO's? a 4banger with a turbo...some day the 6's are gonna be priceless...but in like 20 years down the road

Compare a 65 6 vs 8 as far as collectable in 40 years

IMO, no. How much HP? As much as you want if you have the money, but would be a lot easier with a V8 but hey, it's not as common as the V8's and would be custom to you. So whatever your poison is, have fun.

Re: Is a 97 V6 mustang worth modifying?
You can get decent power for the little 6, but an engine swap to the 99+ 3.8L would make a big improvement to start with. Of course, there are 4.2L V-6 swaps and such as well.

Re: Is a 97 V6 mustang worth modifying?
id say put a 300 shot of nitrous on it and then when it explodes u will be forced to put a v8 in it then it will be worth moding
