8.44 in 1/8 mile
Hey Guy,
My Cobra kit car ran an 8.44 in the eighth mile (at 85mph) and I have been on several calculator and get hugely different conversion times to the 1/4 mile. Do you think this car will run a high 12 in the quarter mile. most of the calculators don''t figure in mph. Thanks Dennis |

Re: 8.44 in 1/8 mile
I'm not at all familiar with 1/8 mile times. Although I hear of fairly fast street cars often being in the 8s in the 1/8 mile. But if you're already at 85mph half way down the 1,320'...then I'd say there's a chance for high 12s. What kind of tires are you running? What kind of horsepower does the 302 have?

Re: 8.44 in 1/8 mile
Simi stang the engine is a 91 302 short block with AFR 165, Crane 2030 and holley dp. the car weighs about 2600 pounds with me in it and 1/2 tank of gas. The car is probably making more hp now becaue of the carb swap. I'm going to the track this friday Ill let you know.

Re: 8.44 in 1/8 mile
8.44 is a good et in the 1/8 but not quite low enough for 12's. 1/8 mile e.t multiplied by 1.56-1.57 usualy gets you close to your 1/4 mile time. you 60' time was probly 2.0-2.1 range?

Re: 8.44 in 1/8 mile
Last year I ran 8.5 in the 1/8 mile at 82mph and my 1/4 mile time was 13.36/104mph. My converter was too small and not allowing me to launch hard enough so my 60' times were in the 1.9 range.
Your 8.44 calculates to a 13.10/107mph on this websites calculator. I would say if you can hook well with a decent 60' time you should be good for high 12's
