Why would you want to raise the RPM? Where does the engine make peak power? Where is peak torque? You normally launch a car at or close to peak torque, and shift about 200 RPM past peak power. It makes no sense to go beyond peak power, because the HP curve drops like a rock. (I'm talking stock engines of course). If you build the car to move the power band up, then it makes sense. The motor has to built to handle it. Especially the cam (can't do it with a Hydraulic) has to be flat tappet or solid roller, and the valves will definitely go into float, because the valve springs will go into bind (again of course if youv'e left them stock). The way to give the S/C more boost is to change the pullies, from lets say a 6 pound to a 12 pound.
Lots of things to consider here.. Ron

Install the Fords extender and shift at 8500 Be sure to post some pics of whats left of the engine.
Seriously, the stock engine doesn't make any power over 5k so there is no point in shifting any later. If you had a big enough cylinder head to make power up that high, you would need some SERIOUS components to live in the high rpm and power level. Also, if your supercharger is centrifical, then spinning it faster will give you more boost as long as it can flow that amount or air. You can spin it faster by changing the drive pulley. Just be sure to not overspin it past its efficency or max rpm.
