Post EGR Valve Question

I have a bad Egr valve, and i was wondering what exactly will happen if i don't replace it. Will it just not let me pass emission? because i don't get checked here so thats not really a problem. Any performance drawbacks?

Unless the car is running sluggish or hesitates, or you used a code scanner and retrieved code #34 (Faulty EGR,)I wouldn't replace the EGR valve or leave it off the car. The computer may have some problems functioning without the EGR valve in place. When it went out on my car, the EEC test box gave me the code. You may want to verify as well.

Good Luck

If you choose not to fix it, remove it completely and fabricate a plate so that you can block the opening. If you don't, and your EGR valve is stuck open, your car will run poorly.

What about the check engine light it will cause not having the EGR sensor connected to the eec?

How does he know the egr valve is bad?

I got code 34. I took the Valve off and tried to clean it, but didn't work. Then I left the EVP Sensor off the valve and checked the codes again and it was gone. The valve wasn't closing all the way.

If you get a check engine light, just ignore it. You probably won't, though. At the very worst, you can pull the EVP sensor from the EGR valve and just let that hang (no need to keep the valve part). You'll get a code 33, but I don't think you'll get a check engine light. Since your EGR is sticking open and you don't need it, I'd just put that plate on.

These cars seem to run very well with very little hooked up. I just fabricated a half sheet metal-half cast intake for my horse, in the process, i left behind every stinking piece of emissions there was. The car has not run so well in a long time. Even with poor o2s in (going to buy them this weekend) it still runs great , idles good, goes like hell , especially from 3000-6000. Just dont forget to plug all of the vaccuum lines to these things you remove.
