Powershifting with nitrous?

How long would you expect my drivetrain to hold up when powershifting with a 150 shot nitrous?

Completely STOCK drivetrain
Untouched 125,000 mile shortblock

no slicks
powershifting at 5400 rpms

Not long, the stock transmission could be trashed with one bad shift on a stock motor. I would think that if your not running slicks you would have trouble hooking with a 150 shot. If you plan to attempt it, get yourself a drive shaft saftey loop just to be on the safe side.

"hey watch this....." *BANG!!!* Bye bye tranny, piston, intake....and whatever else desides to let go....
Nitrous is great when used properly....but not too many people use it properly(including myself)

for those of us who dont use anything properly what is the best way to use nitrous in a stick shift car???

Back off the throttle when shifting. Then when you are done shifting, hammer on it. It should be ok, but I would start off with a smaller shot. Start with a 75 and work your way up. See how the car acts and then when you think you are ready, bump it up to a 100 shot, and so on.

Without slicks I don't think you will hurt the drivetrain. I have a bone stock engine in my 93 stang with stock T5 and 3.55 gears. I spray 150 shot of nitrous and power shift with cheater slicks. I do have a 255 fuel pump and an adjustable fuel reg. I have ran 12.20's at 110 mph cutting a 1.70 60 ft.

I'm hoping to break 11's with my set-up (think it can be done?)

I since then got a G-Force (straight-cut/dorgring) gearset and other numerous drivetrain upgrades including (clutch,rear,driveshaft ext.)

My motor has 95K original miles. I forgot to mention I have shorty headers and pulleys. Stock motor, stock factory heads with stock rockers(valve covers never been off), stock intake, tb and mass air. Stock air box with factory plastic inlets. I shift my car a 5500 rpm. She runs very good!! Your car should run in the 11's with your setup.

This morning on the way to work I don't know what I was thinking...I went to shift too early into third without the clutch completely depressed and of course I missed the gear (shocks the CRAP out of me when that happens...I have'nt done it in so long) But after blowing the clutch on my 96 GT (with very little effort) I'm always nervous about eating gears or burning my clutch...How much better are the 2001 GTs' in that area?...I can't believe people still powershift, grinding gears even at a low speed scares the hell outta me, I just kinda freeze in the car with my hand hovering over the stick and my mouth open. What about changing the gear ratio?...I've heard THAT makes it easier to powershift...At least it did with my friend's 89 Camaro.

Since my last post I have bullet proofed my whole drivetrain w/mods including:

G-Force T5 Transmission
BBK Clutch Cable
FRPP Aluminum Driveshaft
Trickflow Differential Cover
Strange 31 Spline S/S axels
Strange 31 Spline Full Spool

This past friday I took it to the track. I was running 13.0's @103 all day and dipped in the 12's by night fall. I decided to throw a 150 dry shot at it at the end of the night. Launching at 5800 rpms on MT ET Drag slicks (28x10.5) I pulled both fronts off about a foot, and ran an 11.753 @115.002

I don't know what you mean about the 2001 mustangs but, alot of the newer ones up here really don't powershift there cars because they either have the stock T56's which are almost impossible to powershift at 6500 rpms, or they have a really good tranny and don't put the added strenght to use.
