Nitro Newbie
I used NOS about 10 years ago on a Chevy 350 with low 8.5:1 compression, with carburetor adapter injected 150 shot and an automatic trans. All I had to do was hit the button and hold on.I am thinking about installing a 150 shot on a stock 5.0 with fuel injection and manual trans, and was looking for some advice on how to go about it.How can you shoot nitrous to a manual trans 5.0? Can you shift while powered under nitrous?Whats the best way to connect nitro to a fuel injected 5.0 with mass air?Anyone know what's the best system for the money? How much would nitro improve my ET'S, or am I just wasting my time and money.I am getting ready to pull this 5.0L out and install a new 5.0L Ford Racing 345hp create engine and just wanted to have a little fun before I pull it out.The cheaper the system the better, being that I WILL NOT use nitro with the new engine.Raw HP is the way to go. Thanks Anthony (aka)95/GT/5.0

Most people I know use a "Arming switch." Only then does the power get to the throttle switch. Adjust the switch at what point you want the NOS to spray. When you lift, shift, no NOS.
I would save my money for other parts if your going with a crate motor soon.

Contact NOS, Nitrous express, Top Gun, Wilson Manifolds, Edelbrock. They will all set you in the right direction. Nitrous should never be activated under 2500 rpm, without full throttle, (that is why ALL kits have a Wide Open Throttle Switch). If you cannot shift without lifting off the throttle and having the engine gain over 100 rpm, then you should not be shifting with Nitrous without a lot of practice first. Otherwise itr is not a problem, as when you lift between shifts, the nitrous is de-activated untill you are at WOT again.

Thanks for the input guys.I was just looking for a cheap thrill I guess. It seems nothing is cheap anymore.I think I'm going to leave that NITROUS OXIDE alone. To much money for a one time thing.I found the coolest, cheapest nitrous oxide controller at jeg's.com it's called the Nitrous Mastermind by Jacobs Electronics $225.00 it does everything............. ....................... Gonna drop the new engine in soon an I'd better leave well enough alone. Thanks for the posts. "Knowledge is Power"
