Default Which Type Supercharger

I was looking into purchasing a new Mustang GT, and would like to supercharge it. Which type of super charger is best for a street machine that occasioanlly see'sthe drag strip?
Screw or Centrifugal.
And for that matter which manufacturer ?

You have to decide what you want out of the car, what your future mods might be and so on. The Kenne Bell & Eaton supercharges build nice torque right off idle but can be somewhat limited in boost levels if you plan on making an all-out assault on boost in the future. The centrifugals are ligther, smaller and available in more flavors but their boost is more RPM dependent. The centrifugals also tend to have a little higher discharge temperature to them but they have greater potential in overall boost if you're heading for the Renegade ranks. Your best bet is to spend some time doing some research and see what features tickle your fancy the most.

Kenne Bell 1.7 would be my first choice. World class manual, very complete kit (fuel injectors, boostapump, fuel rails, etc.) not always included with other brands. 1.7 is very streetable on a stock block (recommend about 8psi, though the unit will run higher - run too much boost on stock bottom end and engine will break, though). If you build up the motor (forged internals, steel crank, etc.) and upgrade heads much more is there.

About $6000 with intercooler (recommend the intercooler - helps keep everything alive).

Bell also makes a race unit at 2.2 litres, which cranks much more boost.

Reason I like the twin screw units for the street are instant response and low - medium torque production (ideal for street driving).

If your goal is 1/4 mile competition, you might indeed go with a Vortech (or Powerdyne, Paxton, etc) centrifugal unit. Lots of hp at high rpms. One key to my selection for a street machine would be to get a unit that has own oil supply (vs tapping into hot oil in oil pan). Vortech uses this plan in many of their superchargers. I think other manufacturers are starting to do this as well.

I think it is hard to beat the reliability and cost of a Vortech.
And I have a Procharger!
