The 2V Upper Plenum Showdown

The 2V Plenum Showdown

Now remember, this is a slightly modded PI car. The 96-98 lower intake flows very poorly, so don't expect the same results.

Hey man, great article! That is the first test like this I have seen.

As a C&L Plenum user, I have the 75 mm TB since this was recomended by C&L. What ssems interesting to me, is that I seem to be in the minority by having one, as most go with the 70 mm TB.

I would have liked to have seen the same test with a 75mm TB for my own selfish reasons.

Thanks, though! Please post more stuff like this as you see it.

No problem. The real person to thank is Matt Davis, the person who took the time and money to test everything. His info will help thousands of Ford owners.

BTW - you may want to change the "320 flywheel HP" in your sig. Some members around here would love to flame you for that.

You're probably more in the range of 280-something at the fly with those mods.

I'm wondering if the C&L didn't do better because it was designed for and recommended to be used with the 75mm TB. I have seen higher gains from independent testing posted elsewhere for the C&L and 75mm on a pretty much stock PI car.

Blue:

What gains did you see with the 75mm on those independant tests? Were they consistent with C&L's claims? C & L Claims 15 - 20 hp gain with both plenum and 75 mm TB...seems like a lot considering the article.

blue00gt 01-21-2004 04:10 PM

If I remember right it was more like a 12hp gain or so at peak on a pretty stock car with the plenum and 75mm, but the average gain was pretty impressive too. I'll see if I can find where I saw them posted.

one thing to look at if your a drag racers is that the c&l makes more power from 5000 up then both of the others all three keep the power up where the stock it just fell off after peak. look at them the c&L keeps making power to 6000 but the accufab was starting to fall off at 5600

the c&l was flat from 5000-6000 where they stopped
the accufab started to fall off at 5600
the dragon started to fell off around 5700

so if your into just a fun street cars the accufab/dragon will be better cause it makes more low end to mid range power

but if your into drag racing and getting good timslips then the c&l is better because it makes better power in the upper revs and keeps it flat
