idle

Went out for a drive and got on it a little and when I went to stop my car was idleing at 2200 rpms. Before it was at about 900-1100 what the $*#@ is going on with it. Possibly TPS??? Or ecu??? Need help badly... Thanks

ok, it doing everytime you run the car, or does it go away when you shut it off? If its doing this all the time, it can be a number of things,

1. Vacumm leak
2. IAC valve ( on throttle body ) stuck open
3. Mass Air sensor faulty
4. TPS sensor bad or unadjusted.

Do you have any warning lights on ?

if yes, well check for codes.

sometimes, if you not in the habit of getting on your car often, you get carbon and grime biuld ups in the throttle body and something could have gotten stuck in the IAC valve causeing it to stay open.. if thats the case, take it off and clean it with TB cleaner. Also for a vaccum leak a hose could have popped off, or cracked open from flex.

The ECU could also do that, and it isn' t common but it could have gone bad or just temp flaked out. if after you check all of this and it still does it, the disconnect the battery for 20 min + and the re connect and start the motor.. if it clears up then it was a ECU issue. If it doesn't well, it could still be a ecu issue and you could try a different one to see if its the problem. let me know what you find.

It was doing it all the time. I just put the throttle body and IAC on it about a month ago when I put a ported intake on it. I do not have a check engine light because I took it out. No EGR hooked up. Got tired of looking at it. After I cleaned the IAC up it slowly went down after about 5 min of runtime. IT has happened before but all I had to do then was unhook the battery and it went back down. But it is fixed now. I hope. Thanks

How do I adjust the TPS??

you need a volt ohm meter and adjust it at idle at 1.75V i believe.. the corral has great instructions on how to do this.

dont set tps voltage over 1 volt! i think ideal is .95-.98 volts. someone correct me if i'm wrong..........

set your TPS to .98 volts

you guys are right, 1.75 is for a saab turbo my other vehicle.. thank god u guys caught that.. its been a long week.

You probe the correct wires, then loosen the bolts that hold the TPS onto place and turn it left or right until your multi-metere reads .98 volts.
