Thanks for that info man.. My rear gear, tranny and compression fit right in with that cam I hadnt seen a spec list that long for this cam so now I know I'm good to go.. As far as fly cutting the pistons.. The pistons are still in the motor.. guess it'll be with the ole hand grinder.. I dont know how to degree a cam or do all the measuring for vavle clearance but the giuy whos shop I use does.. Thank goodness What rockers do you recommend?? 1.6's or 1.7's I will be looking for a used set to start with..

Thanks again

I would stick with the 1.6 rocker ratio with that cam. The extra lift the 1.7's will give wont help much because you'll probably be flowing to your GT-40 full potential with a .542 lift anywise. Has the short block already been done?

So you think that the trick Flow stage 1 with a set of 1.6 rockers is what to go with... What about Valve sizing? Should I keep these stock or swap in bigger valves. I am going to drill the heads and use studs instead of pedestal mount rockers though..And the short block is already done. Taking it out of the race car..

Ok...Bradley your getting me confused man Are you wanting the Stage 1 or 2? Your valve size is 1.94/1.60's in the GT-40's I believe. I wouldn't change the size, your only feeding at most a 4.030x3.000 hole. You will be fine. I have built cars that are in the 11.5 second range with this cam. Not bad at all for an off the shelf camshaft.

Im not sure what cam I want. I can get either cam, I want the cam that will suit me best. (obviously) I just dont know which that is. Most people have told me to run the Stage 1 with ported heads and 1.6 rockers. And if the valve sizing upgrade is going to not help me.. ( the more I think about it I realize it wont )I just wont do that. I will invest in some good stainless valves. I think I can get a set for about $80 bucks.

I've got a Stage 2, and the springs you need are fairly strong. TFS has a kit, valve springs, seals, shims, locks, retainers, valve height gauge. This is part number 2500200 and from summit. Its expensive, but worth it. I have 1.90 valves and had to notch the pistons some more for clearance.

Thanks for that info 86 gt. Do you have 86 style pistons or 87-93 dished? With the option to get either of the cams.. I need to get he stage 1 ( from a buddy) and jsut check the clearances.. then look at the numbers of the stage two and see which I can use. I think I could do that..
