Default Anyo one else own a pistol?

I was checking out some guns the other day, I think I'm gonna get a Beretta 96 Brigadier Inox. What does everyone else have? Any comments about the Beretta?

Well, I don't know much about the Beretta. I've never fired one, but I have handled them, and they seem to have good quality. I like the automatic decocker/safety. Can't be too bad if the U.S. military decided to replace the tried and true 1911 with the 92's as standard issue side arm. I've also heard great things about the .40 S&W ammo. Seem's to be the magic combination.

Personally, the only pistol I own as of yet is a Para Ordinance P12.45. I don't believe Para makes this model anymore due to the popularity and capability of the P10.45 to make up the market share in this area. The P12 is a great little single action sub-compact with a 3.5" barrel. It fires .45 ACP and has a twelve round magazine capacity +1 in the chamber. It's small enough for concealed carry, and despite the stagger-stack magazine, it fits your hand nicely. Pretty accurate at medium and short range. Good self defence and carry pistol. Of course, if you really need twelve rounds of .45 ammo to take down an assailant, you've got bigger problems to deal with. The model I have is an alloy frame and blued steel body.

I'd love a Kimber Ultra CDP II, but there's no way I could afford the $1100 to $1200 to pull one down.

A word of caution.....45 ACP is a great self defense round with a ton of stopping power, however it isn't cheap to shoot for target practice. The 9mm Beretta would be a good buy if you plan on shooting a lot of target loads. 9mm's can be picked up pretty cheap in bulk, and the bottom line is, if you shoot the bad guy, he's not going to care if it's a .45 or a 9mm or a .22. All he knows is that he got a cap busted off in his...well, you know .

For comparison...a typical box of 50 rounds runs about:

9mm = $6.50.......(a case of 500 runs around $65.00)
40S&W = $8.00.......(a case of 500 runs around $85.00)
45ACP = $14.00

I have two guns: Ruger GP100 .357 magnum 6" barrel and a Glock 19 9mm. Both are nice guns to shoot and not very expensive. For target practice I use .38 shells in the .357 to keep cost down as .357 loads are a little more expensive.

Own and possess are two different things, fortunately.

It would be a federal offense for me to own a handgun, but I love my SKS.

Take care,
~Chris

I don't own any(18). However my older brother does. He's got a Taraus .38 conceal and carry hammerless pistol that I like. But I really dig the Colt .45 model 92. Ultra nice.

Glock now those are nice guns.

My stepdad has got two .38's, not sure on which make they are. One is a police issue. the hammer never locks when you cock it back.

Daniel.

I own a Ruger P89 9MM. I love it. Great gun, but then I've never shot a Ruger that wasn't. Don't too much care for the Glocks. S&W is also a fine choice for firearms. Here is a picture of what my Ruger looks like except mine is stainless.

All my guns are in upstate New York where I usually go deer hunting every year, this year I couldnt go.(damn college!) Anyway Ive got a Dan Wesson 357, a little Marlin .22, Winchester lever action .30-.30, Maverick 12 guage, and an old Ithaca Deerslayer 12 guage that I dont shoot. I also have access to my uncles SKS, which is the most fun out of all to shoot. I love it.

Who makes a good/good priced bolt action rifle. I'm looking to get something that can shoot fairly far and accurate w/scope, but fair priced and I don't know too much about rifles.

don't you mean "leave"? since they come standard with a fixed 10 rd mag? anyway.

i've got some stuff that is good quality, but not big brand, like a Norinco 1911 .45, nice gun, shoots great.
a taurus pt99 9mm
sks
mossberg 500 pump with 18" barrel
marlin semi auto 22 (clip fed)
smith and wesson .357 mag, stainless, 4" barrel. used to be a police pistol, got it for $160 from my uncle, he bought a crate of 'em at a police auction after the city switched to autos

i'm planning on expanding the collection a lot later on, but right now all my money is going into getting my car back on the road. dangit.

i have too many damn hobbies.
