Question 1/4 mile times

what do you guys think a 5speed coupe with 270rwhp and 330rwtq would run in the 1/4 mile on good street tires? I am guessing some where around 13.5 and maybe bust into the 12's with a good launch on a set if slicks.

Good guess but 12's are iffy, even with slicks.

Look for low 13s, and possibly a high 12, but with high mph.

I'd say it depends on the rest of your combination of parts. what else do you have?? what does car weigh?? need more input. takes more than H.P to run quick

ET CALCULATOR RESULTS
ET your car is capable of: 13.42
MPH your car is capable of: 101
Given ideal conditions, this is roughly the elapsed time (ET) and mile per hour (MPH) your Mustang could run.

I used 270hp and I guessed your track weight at 3300 pounds.

I have 284hp / 323 ftlbs at the wheels and my combo can run a 13.2 @ 107+ as it is...it's not maxed out yet. And that's with a heavy SN95 with a detuned EEC and 3.08s and radials. The ET calculator is close with the ET but way off on the MPH.

Vector I think you put 270HP in but that is at the Flywheel not for the rear HP.

on street tires, the driver is everything. I dont know your combo, but I would assume from a 13.7 down to a 12.90 is possible on street tires...with a maximized combo, and slicks you do have the potential to hit the 11s. Keep that in your mind when you go to the track...the driver is everything.

in a 3400 lb car(w/ driver) 13.0-13.1's with good driving...105ish for speed.

My old LX coupe I had about 3 years ago with GT-40 heads,Cobra Intakes, and a E cam. ran a 12.80@107, but it weighed 3100 with me. It dynoed 274, but only had 306 rwtq.

Piston. It is called "no traction". I runs similar to SaleenGTS's numbers If your 60 ft's stay 2.0 or slower it is damn near impossible to hit 11's!!!! (unless you trap around 125-130)

Anyway, when my car dynoed 270 hp, and like 305 tq, I was running 12.8's @ 109-110. My track weight was approx 2950-3000 lbs. A stock 5.0l coupe weighs around 2900 lbs.

yeah I ONLY run 12.3's on street tires. ONLY running 12.3's is better than a lot of people run on slicks, so I am satisfied. 119 is what I am interested in though. Times don't mean squat to me if the mph is there. ET doesn't tell hp, mph does. I could run a 14.5 @ 119 on street tires and be happy.

What do you ONLY run??

Thanks for the backing up Rob.

Saleen, you ONLY ran 12.3? Man, that's slow, I ran a 12.29 . I don't know if Piston meant how it sounded, but doesn't it feel slow to you now? It seems that everytime I cut time off and gain mph, it kicks a$$ for a few weeeks and then it feels slow and I can't wait for the next mods. I think it's a mental problem we all have - called speed addiction !

Yeah, I would love to throw a set of slicks on it, but I already broke 3 lugs off the rear rotors, and they are a pain to tap out.
Plus I don't want to break anything else. I love the raw acceleration. 0-100 in less than 9 seconds is mighty fun.

Although, I am getting greedy. I have a 200 shot waiting for my new motor.

Then we'll see how slow I am....lol
