Question 1 4cyl stang+$4,000- WHAT TO DO?

I have a 92 4 banger, and will have just over $4,000 to do an efi V8 conversion. I know some of you have done the swap, so please help. I'm not afraid of this project at all, but I do want some specific feedback.

First, I will be running a set of ported TW heads, due to the fact that I can get them for $800 from a buddy. I don't think I can do a 351 with this amount of money, so It's going to be a 302, unless somebody can help there. I am planning on the Holley intake, I have a T-5Z, and an 8.8 with 4.56 gears It will have mac longtubes, no cats, and mac catback. It will also have a 70mm tb. I will be spraying it, but I'm not sure how big.

*What gear should I run?
*What size cam? I don't care about emmissions, and mileage is a moderate concern
*What pistons?(must be reasonably priced and I'm thinking cheap forged, or good hypers. I really don't think want a set of heavy *** slugs swinging around, so I'm leaning away from forged)
*do you have any warnings about wiring harnesses? I will definately get a mass air/manual setup.
*will the 4cyl ds work?
*will sn95 seats bolt in?
*how much is a power door in good shape worth?I need a pass door, thanks to some jerk.
*can I use Chevy RR on the TW heads?Since they are stud mount, it shouldnt be a problem?

Any other suggestions?

So far, with the heads, exhaust, trans setup, five lug conversion, and rear end, I've taken up $1,800. That leaves jsut 2,200 to do the rest of the conversion. I'm planning on buying as much stuff used as possible. My budget isnt FIRM at $4,000, but its not that flexible either.

Well..Lets see
Wonder how cheap u can get a 302 block for??

Bore and cleaning of block = $150
347 JE pistons = $500
Eagle 5.4 rods = $319
Crank = $300-800

You might be able to put together a 347. I know a place to order parts cheap. Let me know if you are interested.

If you plan on having big power, I would stay with about a 3:55 gear. Maybe a 3:73 if you can get good traction.
The sn95 seats will go right into your car too.

Well, I can get a complete roller motor for about $350, but I need a complete wiring harness.

I don't think that I will be anywhere close to my budget if I drop $500 on pistons, and 350 for a crank. My budget barely covered the parts I needed, and I was planning on using the stock crank with a polish stock rods, and $250 pistons/$70 rings

I figure;
$150 at the machine shop, $500 for a holley intake, $100 for bearings, $100 for gaskets, $150 for gears, $75 for setup kit, $150 for used injectors, $100 for fuel pump, $150 for wiring harness, $50 for radiator/shroud, $250-500 for pistons, $80 for rings, $350 for core motor, $30 for oil pump, $150 for used mass air (pro-m Bullet), $100 for used 70mm tb, $100 for intake kit, $150-250 for cam, depending on whether it's used, $70 for pushrods, $100 for lifters. That's if I use $250 pistons, and a used cam.

I'm surely forgetting something, and I'm at $2,700 for these parts, plus the money I've already allocated. So far, I'm at $4,855, without the seats, which I really want, which sets me back another $150.

I appreciate your input, and I'm curious how much power this combo would make with a good cam. I guess I'm looking realistically at $5k for the project now.

I've already forgotten a set of RR and an afpr, but I can offset that by selling my parts car, and drive train for $300.

Also, the Trick flow Track intake is looking more likely, due to Holley's outrageous price. I'm looking at mid .500's lift and moderate duration (220's) cams. Does anybody have any suggestions?
