![]() I just put roller rockers on my stock heads crane 1.7's and i put a set of hartman valve covers on with them and they leak like a refinery and they came off a wild street car so they are wore out.What all do i need to gring off my stock covers to clear them?I know to remove the baffle but do i just grind where the baffle bolts to and the whats looks like another place for bolts on the inside ?

![]() They are the same as the Comp Polymer, I ran them for about 2 years and at the very end they started to leak. You need to use cork gaskets with a very thin layer of RTV and they will not leak. If you use the stock re-enforced gaskets they will leak, no or not.

![]() I used cork gaskets and a thin layer of rtv but they were given to me so i can't complain too much.I bet they were on and off his car 30 or more times so i'd say it's either grind the stockers or buy a new set.Thanks for your advice

![]() You will need to grind the bolt holes flush with the surface of the cover, plus you have to grind away at the bracing in the corners and anywhere else they hit (see pic).
![]() Get yourself some Dykem (part bluing dye) and paint the inside of the covers. Then, very gently slide the cover into place trying not to hit the rockers as much as possible. Since the rockers hit regardless this will be impossible, but try not to wobble them around too much and mark them up where you don't need to grind if ya know what I mean. Pull the cover back off and anywhere the dye was removed needs to be ground away. This is a lot of grinding to make them work by the way. It took me and my brother 2 hours taking turns to get mine done. I have a set of stock covers that I have already ground on if you want them. I'll sell them for $30 + shipping. Since I live in Indiana too shipping will be around $12 I'm guessing. You may have to grind a bit more on them, but not as much as you would on fresh castings. Oh yeah, my covers have the powder coating stripped from them too and I could even polish them up a bit if ya want them.
