Angry Ran 11.53 down the track ! now i hear aloud ticking!

i went to the track yesterday, ran 11.53 @120 mph. as soon as i drove around to pick my slip up , noticed my cars ticking pretty loud and hesitating, and when i give alil gas sometimes it sounds like its gotta slight backfire.
1st thing i thought was a bent pushrod, as soon as a got home i checked them out , there all straight! witch really didnt surprise me cause i just reaplaced them 6 months ago (with hardened pushrods) ..... what could it be, collapsed lifter ? bent valve ? any ideas ?

ifs it a bent valve, i think im gonna trash my GT40 P's and get new heads... How does the edel RPM performer 2.02 heads, perform against a pair of AFR 185's ?? please help ...

Thanks guys.

Sounds like you're barking up the right tree at least. Ticking is probably a lifter, and the running crappy and minor backfire is probably a burned valve, not necessarily bent but could be. Run a compression test, and that'll let you know where the problem is.

Good luck!

ok , i went and bought a compression tester...

i take the #5 spark plug out and its TOTALLY MELTED !!! i ran the compression test on that cylinder anf there NO compression in that cylinder.
i thought maybe i bought a busted tester , but it shows compression on other cylinders ! im taking it apart now, i hopes there isnt a huge hole in my piston !

how bout a burnt piston? , is there real bad blowby? Although the backfire does suggest a bad valve.

i took the head off and the there is a hole in my exhuast valve. the piston looks pretty good. im going to get new heads today. im thinkin about the edel Rpm Performer heads w/2.02 intake valves ? how good are these heads over my gt40-p's ?
