170K on the block..rebuild???
 

Hi everyone.
Since I blew one of my heads :p, I'm thinking of getting a pair of aftermarkets... However, since I have 170K miles on the stock block, I have the dilemma of installing the new heads on this block, OR should I consider a rebuild? The engine ran fine, no serious oil leaks (some oil pressure drop, but I think it's the oil sending unit), exhaust is clean, no significant loss of power up to now. I drive the car clean (no redlining, don't 'beat up' on it etc.)
Any suggestions??

p.s. I have read before that many stock engines can hold up to 250 miles or more.

You need to measure the bores and see if they need bored.

well the oil pressure loss is the most likely bearings,well they do run forever.it all depends on what u wanna do.u can do it ten ways.i know how to do this work so i might do it differently the some people.heres 2 ways u can do it because it sounds like you dont beat on it.
if you have the money and ur just looking for close to stock,i would rebuild,pistons kb $450,rods scat i beam only like $220,crank grind,timing chain,oilpump
or you could just do rings and bearings if you dont have the money,but who knows how long that would last.
or you can buy a used motor
