tranny rebuild
ok, my friend broke 3rd gear on my car (unintentionally, of course). anyway, he's going to split the cost of a rebuild w/ the WC kit plus labor, and I'm wondering how much I should be looking at in labor if I bring the shop the parts and the tranny?
http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...76&prmenbr=361 That's the kit I'm going to get. Thanks guys, Spanky |

For what it's worth, Farnsworth Transmissions in Amarillo quoted me 250.00 bench labor for a rebuild if i bought the kit and brought in the tranny.

Let me rephrase that. The guy told me "about 250.00 if it was a standard rebuild" These folks have always been straight with us so I'm sure the price he told was good. I didn't check anywhere else so I'm not sure if this is typical or not.

FYI, if the weather holds up this weekend, I'm planning to pull the transmission out of the 89 for a rebuild. I'm going to try this myself with the help of the manual I downloaded, the Ford manual and a video from Hanlon. I thing D&D will get the nod for the kit so here's hoping I can get it all back together. I have about 4 weeks to do this before the boy drops by on the way to Pensacola. I'm really hoping it works. The thought of that long face he'll give me if the transmission is scattered all over the garage when he gets here is more than I can take. Then again, the thought of all those parts scattered all over the place is depressing too. Oh well, here's to pieces parts.

T-5 Rebuild Manual & Tag Decoder
spankaveli
I'm not sure which manual you downloaded but here is a pretty detailed one. If it's the same one you have then no harm done. If not maybe it can be of some use to you or others. T-5 Rebuild Manual Also, if anyone has ever needed to know exactly what kind of T-5 they have...like a Non World Class or a World Class, I found an awesome website that has a tag decoder. If you have the number on the metal tag you can find out the year and type of vehicle it came out of. It will be a number like 1352-###. T-5 Tag Decoder
