1st time at track

Hey guys, I bought the car in my sig a couple weeks back and am trying to get out to the track ( I hate rain) and i have never been before. Everything on it is stock except for flows and new installed underdrive pulleys. I have crappy street tires that are 225's w/most of the tread. I was wondering launch RPM's or going from an idle and any tips you guys have. It's my project car and i wanted to get some times before i started to really get into the engine performance. Thanks in advance.

Congrates on the new car, you'll love it.

If you have a stick car...Try leaving at just off idle. any tire spin really kills your time. Also shift at 5200ish. It seems low, but it works. I shift at 5400 for first and 5200 for the rest. "Should" get you in the mid to high 14's if your track is at sea level. Good luck and keep the shiny side up!

good post, thats where i shift to 2nd;)

anyway leaving at idle might bogg with stock gears, but get the rpm right, takes practice, my style worked for me since i always allowed roll out riding the clutch so the tires wouldn be shocked, i pulled the front swaybar and went 1.98 60' on a good track..... but it took some time getting that launch down, with 273 grs it will be tricky, just have fun:cool:

Thanks on the replys but unfortunately I will not be able to make it to the track, due to a couple inches of rain. Hopefully i will be able to make out next weekend.
