Default Basic head and related parts terminology

Is there a link or somewhere that I can learn more about engine heads and parts that are used on them? I'm looking into just basic information like what is pedestal vs. stud mount, roller rockers vs. non-roller, valve guide plates, valve seals, hardend seats, valve guides, on and on... I'm reading about all these options and don't know what they are. The AFR heads look like the best available now but don't know what to order and what supporting parts are needed. I'd hate to ruin one of these due to lack of intelligence...
