I've heard that you can remove that canister with no problems.

About the hole in the back of the heads, theres an even easier way to plug in then going out and getting bolts.

Just cut the tubing right next to the little block that bolts to the head, turn it around to where the flat (hole-less) side and bolt it back on using the existing bolt. I did this as well as using some hightemp silicone sealant on it.
