Hey Intercooled.
Well I think you know how I feel (as you have been to my site) but I think MACs gauges are the best! They are cheap, look awesome during the day and light up great at night. Ian

Ian,
Did you have to do something to your needles to get them to show-up at night? I've heard that at night the needles don't show well with the white back-grounds. Your needles look really orange. I must agree, the Mac overlay looks sweet... and stock. Thanks -

i didnt think MAC made them for non-airbag mustangs. They must have started making them recently because when i talked to the MAC dealer at WFC he said that they only make them for like 90-up or 91-up (airbag cars) because one idiot light had been moved and the steering column is different so the instrument cluster is a little different
but i see that 88cobra has them on his non-airbag car so what did you do? did they start making them or what? they do look very good i've also heard that the BBK speedware ones are pretty good and cheap

Hey Guys,
OK first thing is that yes I have a non-airbag car. I bought the faces for the 90-93 stangs. I had to swap in a 140MPH speedo. The only problem is that you have to put some black electrical tape on part of the backing so that the light does not shine through the face. All warning lights can be seen. MAC does make faces for the 87-89 cars. I can get them through my supplier. Now for the white needles. The problem is not at night, the problem is during the day! Think about it, white face, white needle I used a trick (keep it between us ) scrape the white paint off the back of your stock needles and paint them orange. Since my interior is full of Autometer gauges I picked up a bottle of testors model paint at a local store. Testors actually makes a color that is an exact match to Autometer Orange. So I scraped off the white, and painted on the orange. They light up great at night, and look kick *** during the day! Ian

Gauge Mod
So glad I read this thread. My sister got me a set of white face gauges for christmas, and when I opened up the package I saw it says for 90-93. Mines an 89. 88Cobra, please tell exactly what you did with the electrical tape, and where you put it. Thanks!!

Go ahead and start taking the dash apart and install the gauges. You will see where you have to install the tape. It is very obvious because there will be a piece of clear plastic that the gauge did not cover.
