got this from the corral

"I agree. 3550 is good for racing with drag radials at the power levels of 400rwhp+ If you want to do clutch-drop launches on slicks and WOT powershifts, move to the TKO. And the TKO requires the clutch disc as mentioned, in addition to a different driveshaft yoke (larger diameter, greater spline count as well). "

While chasing a driveline vibration I borrowed a 100K+ T5 to see if it was the trans. Took it to the track sprayed 125 out ff the hole , 1.57 60 ft.s, & carried the front end all night. I would have just left it in if it had a reverse. Now running world class T5 with ram 900 clutch. 11.90's on motor no trouble. I hear a lot about the tremec, but never seen anybody running faster than mid 11's with one. When the T5 pops I'll probably put the spray back on & go jerrico.

Around $1100 without shipping charges, and you can get one from Jegs or Summit.

Thanks 1bad89. For another $200 could get a Tremec 3550. Is it worth saving the $200 for the worldclass t5? What makes the world class t5 better than the stock t5, anything?

Most everyone has thought that, only a couple hundred more for the Tremec, so why not get that? Well... after you start adding up prices of a different parts like bellhousing, clutch parts, etc.. etc.. the total hovers a little over $2000 all said and done. The "Super duty", "world class", aka "T-5Z" tranny is a better transmission than a stock T-5, but don't expect to run 11's without problems. It's a good tranny, I ran one in my GT, Unit ran one in his too. I really liked it, but if your application is higher horsepower or torque, you speed shift all the time, or just "abuse" it, I'd look at a TKO or lesser Tremmec. If you are on a budget like I was, and just want to spend around $1100, then the T-5z is up for the job, & more than capable to serve the duty as a great street tranny and moderate hp levels, plus all your parts off your other T-5 will bolt right up, clutch, after shifter market shifter(if you have one) But don't let these guys kid you into thinking your going to run 11's for 500,000 passes without problems.
