![]() O.K. My 65 stang has run a best of 13.50 at 107mph at 3000ft. The suspension is all stock except 90/10 and 50/50 drag shocks. My 60' is 2.01 with 26x8.5" slicks. I'm running a 9" converter and a c-4 tranny. The front springs are very stiff and so are the rear leafs. I have subframe connectors and 4;10 gears. What would you guys suggest I do for suspension mods? Would softer leafs and front drag springs be a good starting point?

![]() Absolutely! Do you get any wheel hop now?
Also, and I'm not kidding here, get a couple feet of heavy chain and a turnbuckle. Attach one end of the chain to the top, outside bolt hole in the drivers side head. Attach the chain to the turnbuckle, and the turnbuckle to the frame. Remove any excess links so that the chain is taught, and tighten with the turnbuckle. I will pay you the money it cost to do it if you don't notice a difference. ![]() I don't know how well they work, but back in the old days it was traction bars that people swore by on leaf spring equipped cars. It's kind of on the same principle as Chris's suggestion but on a different part of the car. I'm sure the springs would be a good idea too.

![]() Hey Chris, how's the foot? I don't get any wheel-hop at all. The rear just slides around a bit. What's the chain going to do? I actually have seen this done on other cars. Does it help traction?

![]() My foot/ankle is MUCH better, but I still have to wear this stupid boot thing sometimes. Anyway, The chain applies the engine torque directly to the frame, instantly. It's AMAZING how much torque is wasted by the motor mounts and the misc. flex in the frame. You really just have to experience it to understand. i learned by accident. Years ago, I had a busted drivers side motor mount, and rather than buy a new one, I chained down that side of the engine. That fukker almost pulled the drivers tire.
Anyway, you want to go on Saturday? Hang with us in the pits? Let me know! ![]() We may be short handed tomorrow, so I'm probably going down around 3:00 or 3:30. We fire off the car around 4:30 to warm it up, and we stay pretty busy from then on. Anyway, just look for the white #88 car. I'll be the guy wearing shorts and this stupid boot.
