i did the same thing, with no cleaner it fit, but i just went and bout a hood snorkel, a small one like on the early mustangs, and just cut a hole in my hood and then painted the snorkel flat black. i looked real good, but the black happened to fit the color scheme of the car. and incase you are thinking about drop solid motor mounts, take my word and don't. It was just horrible, all around. i just ended up going to carlise, pa and getting a bolt on cowl hood for 150 bucks.
