351W or 351C?

I have found all sorts of Windors 351 blocks I can buy from people. My dad and I are looking to put a 351 in my mustang 5.0 which is already fast. He is saying go with the Cleveland, they are much better engines. Any suggestions? Are their alot of performance parts for the 351 I can get to beef it up to run 10s/9s? Or do I stick with my high 10/low 11 302? And work with that? I can get either or. I have a guy holding a 351c and a 351w for me.

there are alot more aftermarket parts for the windsor, not to mention kits for installing it in the late model body. The cleveland is a good motor, but costly to build. You can make ALOT of power with the windsor fairly easily.

Up until the 1980s, the 351W was considered inferior to the 351C, since the Cleveland had better flowing heads and a racing heritage. But nowadays, there's a huge availability of performance heads, cams, intakes, and headers for the Windsor. I also agree, it's cheaper to build a Windsor.

Given the availability of parts for the Windsor, it just doesn't make sense to stay with the old school thinking of running a Cleveland. You can tell your dad I said that, and tell 'em I've owned both engines http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif.
