Default which 351W?

I was told there is a difference in the Windsor blocks whereas one has the hydraulic cam and lifters. One has roller cam and lifters..Does anyone know what years the rollers came stock...I need to get a block for the 408 stroker I am going to be building, and since it'll be 500Hp motor only, I figured the roller block would be better so I don't have to convert later. Thanks, Rich

The mid 90 Broncos and trucks with the 351w should be roller blocks. Dont quote me on the years, but I am pretty sure some of then were. I have also heard they are some what hard to find.

okay....question of the day...do I really need to go roller cam, lifters and rockers on a 500 HP 408? And would the conversion be able to stand up to that kinda power if the answer was yes to the last question?

If I was building the 408, 351 I would have a roller cam. It makes MUCH more power and has less resistance.

The cam events can be more agressive and get the valves open and closed quickly. Well worth the money, IMHOP

You don't HAVE to have a roller block to run a roller cam. Aftermarket stuff works very well in a non-roller block. Just can't run a factory type roller cam. Non-roller blocks have shorter lifter bores, and nowhere to mount the "spider".

www.cammotion.com Kip will fix you up.

My "Mr Nasty" cam is a roller, and I've had ZERO problems with it in a non-roller block.
