Post 351w conversion

I have decided on the car (84 V6 t-roof)

I have decided on the Engine (351w out of a 1974 ford f-100)

Now other than perfomance mods, what would I need to put this 351w in to the car, just the engine into the engine bay ie// oil pan, motor mounts, ect...

how about transmissions? It will have to be an auto... but what kind? and need to stay in budget so it will have to be used.... any recomendations

rear end will probably be an 8.8 out of an 86-newer mustang or t-bird, and supension will be the one out of my 88GT when I put the new springs in ...

Please keep in mind when giving suggestions I am trying to build this car as cheaply as possible.....

Thanks

I thought all pre-95 cars that weren't V8s had 4 bangers? Anyhow, you'll also need headers that fit. As for the tranny, C4s are plenty strong and they're pretty common (mostly used in trucks and full-size passenger cars). You've got the right idea with the rear. The dinky 7.5" rears used in pre-87 cars won't take any crap...especially from a 351W.

Oil pan: Probably need to order one made for the Windsor swap (from Summit).

Motor mounts: Need Motor mounts for an '84 5.0 Mustang.

Transmission: C4 . Before you stick it in, I would suggest saving up for a shift kit and having it installed.

From experience, I would suggest getting a rear end which already has 3.55s from a Thunderbird. (Better than getting a rear w/ 2.73s and having to swap them w/ 3.55s or 3.73s, IMO) Unless you get one for free, avoid a 7.5". You want 8.8".

The suspension you talk about sounds great. Get new shocks and struts, though (if you need to).

Need at least a 3 core radiator. Also should look into getting a lot of little new things, such as distributer, wires, etc.

84_GT350,
I'm pretty sure it was pre-'87 cars. Also, I had a 7.5" rear at first for about 6-8 months and that was all it could take (I don't know, maybe there was something wrong with it in the first place).
