Default 393 stroker's first pass

well, i went to the track on friday and clicked off a 7.59 in the 1/8 mile at 94.5 miles an hour on motor. my 60 ft was 1.74. i would say that is not to bad. buy the way, i still have my 7.5 inch rear in the car. hee, hee. any guess what my quarter times would be?

Around 11.8-11.9@119-120mph.

Get some traction (break that 7.5) and you'll hit low 11's. what other parts U got on that combo?

Thumbs up

11.84 @ 119.07mph according to the analyzer at the left. Hope you have a spare rear end lying around! What combo are you running, BTW?

well, the 8.8 is being built right now. just excited to see would it could do. Just like any ford guy, the mod list goes on and on. But the highlights are: 304, 244@.050, .576" retro roller cam, victor jr. intake, victor jr. heads, 2.05 1.60, out of the box. crane gold race 1.6 roller rockers, 3200 stall. aftermarket rods, forged pistons. 10:1, block was o-ringed (read: lots of spray), ARP everything. 1 3/4" mac long tube headers, Dr. Gas 3" X-pipe, Mac 3" cat back exhaust. 3.73 gears (yes, in the 7.5, i didnt do it , it was in the car when i bought it, and same in 8.8 when finished)But dont know what carb to run? I have an old hunk of junk on it right know. any suggestions? 750 or 850. I hope you can see that i think this is a pretty good combination, right at the streetable/strip limit.

the 8.8 is getting a spool, 31 spline moser axles, c clip eliminators, and rear stud girdle.

i belive i can dropp a good 2 tenth in my 60 ft. with the posi and launching harder. and learning to shift the car where it wants to be shifted it will probably pick up

my engine builder said the motor should make about 500 hp peak with 450 ft. lb of torque throughout most of the power band.

I got a time slip right here where the guy in the other lane ran a 7.594 @ 95.25 1/8th and it ended up going 11.700 @ 119.71. It was with a 1.836 60ft time also.

well this is just a start. first pass i dont think it was to bad. previous motor had a best 60 ft time of 1.60 so i think i could drop my time by at least 2 tenth just in my short time and the air was really bad, 95 degrees and 70 percent humidity.and i still have an old crappy 4 barrel and i think their is at least a tenth, and just learning to sshift it maybe another tenth so can i do what other s do when they do bolt ons, 5 here 10 there and now i have a 400 hp stock mustand, lol. well i hope ican run a 7.0 before i go to buds creek or mason dixon quarter mile tracks.

Hope you don't mind if I jump in here but I rarely see a guy running such a close combo as myself. I'm still in the process of breaking in the engine but do you guys have any idea as to what I can expect from my setup? I'm very similar to tarmon8r but not as strong. I'm using the Performer heads and intake versus the more powerful Victor jr. parts. and I'm running EFI with shorty headers Probably a bad decision but I wanted my car on the street. Thanks

2 questions for ya

1 what size cam and what are the specs

2 do you know or can you get the flow numbers for your performer heads across the entire lift range not just peak flow?

The cam is basically a custom grind version of the FRPP 393 Crate engine Z cam (the old flat tappet one). Not sure of the specs right now (I'm at work) but it's very lumpy and much larger than the cam I used to pass the emissions test. I will post the specs this afternoon.

Regarding the flow numbers, I know they are less than the Victor heads. Not sure the exact numbers but I can call my friend at Edelbrock and ask if you think it's valuable info.

Have you ran the 1/4 yet??
