![]() I just installed a powermaster starter (mastertorque 9603) to cure some starter issues (it's looking more and more like a battery issue right now) and when I started it up, no problems (I have no clutch saftey). When I put the clutch in for the first time, a really high pitched whining sound like a table saw (but higher pitched) happened and persisted and changed tone with pedal travel and stopped when I let the clutch out. Obviously, I driven the car in last night with no such issues.
This is probably interference with the starter gear, right? I should take that piece of junk back? It took me ALL DAY of pure unadulterated misery to put the starter in and I dont feel like repeating it for no reason. so if you guys can give me your .02 on what you think is happening. Did I just "machine" down something by accident? I DID rotate the starter inside it's housing (it's supplied with 5 holes either side of the starter and 2 hex screws). It engages without any like clunk or other interesting noise.
