Default Is a 5.0 really a 4.9litre?

thats what these guys are trying to tell me, Maybe it is? someone???

Exactly 4.942222 Liters assuming exactly 4" bore and 3" stroke, or 301.592895 Cubic Inches, 302 just sounds better huh

Yea, and 5.0 sounds cooler than 4.9

They call it the 5.0 to avoid confusion with the 4.9L 300ci I-6 engine.

Also, the final nail in the coffin (and a good thing it was nailed) was that the 5.0 badges were cheaper to make than 4.9. Something about a 9 being more difficult to cast and taking more plastic. Just think, that extra dollar or two of savings was passed directly onto the dealer.

Most auto manufacturers round actual engine sizes up or down a bit for simplicity or, in the case of the 5.0, for better marketing value. No big deal.

Its ok, we arn't cheating because the 350 chevys are actually 347.somethings ours is closer so dont let chevy guys give you any crap.


(just sounded like somthing a chevy guy would inform you of)
