|  The 5.0. BUT 5 years from now the 4.6's will be spanking the 5.0's. Although that statement won't find alot of support here, it is true. | what? basically its making more power now 99-02) then a stock 5.0, but in the world of stangs, most of us modify, and the 5.0 is imo, the best motor to modify and kicks some arse! ------------------ formerly known "90dpscoupe" 5spd 90lx, 3.27grs, BM fan, alum divesahaft, ADS chip, 160 stat, mac coldair fender, mac h-pipe. Best e.t-13.91 60'-1.9 (on 225/60/15 firehawks) mph- 98.70 |

| It's been around for nearly 40 years, it better be easier to modify! The mod engines have only been in production for 11 years, and the aftermarket parts world is only now giving mod engine owners options. In the next 5 years, the 5.0 is going to fade into the past just like carburetors did. i know that there are still plenty of carbed engines around, but 5 years ago, no one believed that there was ever going to be hi-po parts available to take EFI onto the track. At any track you went to, carbs outnumbered EFI by 99 to 1. That's hardly the case these days. The same thing is going to happen with the 5.0. You'll see. |  Good point Chris, Any motor that is no longer in production in new vehicles will ultimately fade in popularity. The Small block Chevy may be the only holdout and those mostly will live on in street rods and 69 Camaros. Everyone else will run LS-1 or Modular motors even for most swaps as low mileage motor/trans swaps will be harder to find in wrecking yards. | UMMMM...... well IMO the 5.0 will always be popular and will always be able to hang with a 4.6. In racing $$+know how=speed I dont care what size engine you have. I would rather have a pushrod engine anyday cause they are easier to work on. I think if anything the 4.6 will fade out and wont even be here in 5 years. Ford is gonna have to pull there head out there *** and realize that chevy is gonna kill them in sells in the coming years if they dont give us ford guys something with more cubic inches and power from the factory. I guarantee you that whatever Chevy brings out to replace the camaro will have an LS1 or a LS6 or some sort of big cube V8. | With all the time and money Ford has put into modular engines, believe me, they are not going to be fading away anytime soon. As for car sales, Ford has sold twice as many Mustangs as all GM F-bodies combined for a few years, and GM's have had a significant power advantage for almost a decade. |

| Hey why the 5.0 lets talk about 5.7+ cubes like my 6.5 . But i would love a 5.4 out of the new lightning. get the cheaper one and drop in a 351 stroker. ------------------ 89 with 395 single stage n2o .garret t3. 373's Suspention worked out finnaly . need cage . |

| First off, I'd say the stock 5.0 over stock 4.6 every time. Secondly, I agree w/ 5.0 HO, that Ford will stop production on the 4.6's in the very near future and move back to 5+ liters for their V8 stangs. ------------------ '90 5.0 LX - heads, intake, cam, fuel delivery, gears, full exhaust, pulleys, ignition, drag springs, front brake upgrade, a/c delete, K&N cone filter charger.......and much more! 1/4 mile: 12.29 @113 60': 1.78 my ride |

| The 302 is a classic. It aint going anywhere. It will be around for a long time in one form or another. Sure the 4.6's will gain in popularity as the 5.0 gets older and out of production longer, but I only think you will see people with big pocket books modifying the 4.6's seriously. it took over 20 years of 302 production before the high performance parts were relatively cheap and available.
