5.0nupgrade advice

have a 91 gt stock 302 bbk headers, underdrive pulleys, cold air intake, 373 gears 5 speed motor has 115,000 on it want to upgrade not sure if i should spend $1,600 on heads and intake or spend 1,900 on a long block and use stock intake and injectors and upgarde later. have about 4,000 to spend. looked into crate motors also too$$. not sure if lower end of stock motor would hold with new heads and intake.
any advice appreciated

how does your car run? if it runs good and doesnt use a whole lot of oil i would say go ahead and throw the heads, cam, intake on it. people under estimate how tough the ford 5.0 is, all those pricks in the magazines say "you got 30,000 miles on it? holy ****, you one lucky son of a *****, that motor should have taken a dump 10,000 miles ago, now, go buy a probe industires 347 stroker" without advertisers they dont make any money, they try to hook them up any way they possibly can. unless your trying to win the pro 5.0 class i would say run a leakdown and compression test first in case there is any trouble then throw it on!

I'd have the short block rebuilt or buy and short block. Then add AFR 165's and a Holley intake.

I put 89 heads on my motor with 100,000 miles. the rings held the higher compression for about 5 miles..

needless to say, i had to start all over and do it the correct way.

115,000 is alot of miles to try and build 'dependable' performance..

do it right the first time or you get to do it again!!
