Is the 5.4 the same?
Theres a guy I know that has a 5.4 out of a 98 model f250 truck for sale. It was pulled out to put in a diesel motor. He has it up for sale for 250 dollars. Is this motor the same as the new 5.4's like in the lightning?
I mean block and head wise. Im thinking of buying it for trading material towards a trans and just want to know if someone could use this motor for a modular motor class or something and be competitive. |

Besides not having a blower, I would think so. I think you made a good decision.

It should be the same 5.4. I dought that Ford would make two different 5.4's.

the motor you have is rated at 260hp, there is another 5.4 though, its DOHC and is used in the Navigator rated at 300hp, its also what the 00 Cobra R engine is based from,
i say find a cheap used standard cab 2wd F150 and put that in there with the lightning blower and go have some fun ------------------ 88 Notch, B&M Ripper, 3.73's, Ported E7's, Explorer int. w/ ported lower, pulleys, 1.7RR's, BBK headers, off-road H-pipe, flowmasters, subframes, 65mm TB, March ram air ,MSD coil, U/L control arms, 155lph f/p, Crane Adj.FPR, Nitto drag radials, best 1/4--> 13.76@101.4 on a 2.17 60ft |

It should have the same heads as the Lightnings. They have different pistons and rods I believe though (Lightnings got beefier ones). Holley has a kit for the 5.4L 2V you can supercharge with; wouldn't think the power would be that much lower than a Lightning in the end.
