92 conv GT vs 95 Z28 m6
I finally got to run a late model camaro! It wasnt much of a race though, he said he was stock and I would have to believe him. We ran 3x from a stop and once from a roll. I thought it would have been faster. I left him hard and kept pulling until I shut down at third as he was a few lengths behind. Now I need to hunt down an ls1. Anyone know what this car should do? I think the 99 Gt I ran would take this guy.

I have a friend with a 92&SystemMax 2. He ran a best od 13.3 on street tires. Most LT-1's I see are in the 13.80-14.2 neighborhood. The LS-1's though are bad....expect 13.4-13.7's from a 6M. A SS or WS-6 would probably spell defeat for your convert. My buddy ran nose to nose with a 99 WS-6. Good Luck in your pursuit.

Dave i think Ls1 season is open all year with mods like that!, i hope you can pull on the top end though, heck my car is stock and i posted several times about running "door to door" with ls1's, never beat one, but wasted many of lt1's and irocs.
Ls1's are badass, and they're always putting up good numbers, but on the street it's a different story. |

LS1's pull hard on the top end, it's a fairly high RPM motor, my basicaly stock automatic with 273's will shift at 6,000 RPM's in overdrive, it's a pretty heavy car, plus I weigh 190+ at 6ft tall, I had hoped my car would run mid 13's but it actualy felt slower than my 90' Formula 350 which ran 13.41@101+
with 1.8 60ft times on dragradials! when I took the LS1 to the track the other day on street tires it ran 13.17@106.49 with a 1.996 60ft! they pull hard on the top end!but less on the bottom, unless you run gears and a converter. [This message has been edited by LS1JAY (edited 01-08-2001).] |

LS1Jay, what kind of LS1 do you have? What kind of mods? If it is stock...I hate to say it, but I think I want to sell my Cobra to get one.

I probably won't sell it Fox Body because of it being rather rare, but it just makes me soooo mad that these GMs are faster than my car from the factory. You have no idea how mad this makes me...that is why I was heading for the "if you can't beat em, join em"

I hope there's a hint of joking in your statement about selling the Cobra. That is the ideal car to build. If you sell that car and buy an LS1, that'll be one of the biggest mistakes in your life and this has nothing to do with the rarity of your car. Dude, not only do you have a Mustang, you have a 93 Cobra. Yeah, my '79 in 1979 wasn't as fast as an LS1 in '01, but my '79 in '01 is faster.

I am just not seeing these a4 ls1's run 13.1(without converter) stock? maybe 13.6, i don't buy it, nope, and i will never have the "cant beat em join em" attitude because i saw a 93 cobra stompin on ls1's all day, it was on slicks and dont know what else, but i saw him miss 2nd and still turn 11.8 at 118 mph!

Fox Body I think you're on the money.
"Yeah, my '79 in 1979 wasn't as fast as an LS1 in '01, but my '79 in '01 is faster" 93SVTstang it has been 8 years for the GM to come up to speed. Factory hp is great but I think I speak for a lot of blue oval guys ... you have a sweet car to build on. But, not to beat the point home. The LS1s are easy 13sec cars off the show room floor. Mustangs still have a ways to go. But, I'll keep mine either way. |
