500hp & 550 ft.-lbs.???
ok, i was just wanting to know if this combo could make 500hp & 550ft.-lbs., so i thought id turn to the experts (this is where you come in). here is the combo of ALL the parts:
-stock shortblock with a dss main support system -tfs t/w heads -tfs street intake -stock cam -65mm t-body & egr -incon twin turbo kit set at 10psi (kit includes 30lbers, 190lph pump, custom chip, intercooler, 80mm maf, turbo headers...) -tfs 1.7rrs -crane hi-6 & lx92 coil -2.5" h-pipe -2.5" cat-back (need some help deciding on a Quiet one) -tfs hardened pishrods(not sure what leghth) -termec tko tranny & 3.55 gears -ssm liftbars & upper c-arms -50/50s, 70/30s, eibach drag kit & frame connectors. ok, thats all of it (i dont think i left anything out). now, could i expect 500hp? should i be able to go 10sec 1/4? any help on pushrod legnth & a quiet cat-back would be appreciated thanks.... ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT, T-5 3.08's, No Smog Pump (Shorty Belt), Dumps At The End Of Stock H-Pipe, K&N Air Filter (Stock Air Box), Removed air silendcer), 198.9 rwhp @4200 (235 Motor!!), 285 lbs-ft @2900 (336 Motor!!!). I would definatly say you could hit that kind of HP. That stock cam will hold you back a bit, but it should be ok. go with a 70mm TB over the 65 with the forced induction.
You come up with a new motor combo everyday. 10psi of tubro boost with that motor will be insane. You could easily make more HP than that actually. 10's will be there providing you don't blow the rearend and you can hook up. what happened to the 351? I love blowers, but there is a lot to be said for NA reliability. You could build a 351 for less than the 302 plus the turbos and it would last longer. 500hp can be rough on a stock bottom end. PLUS, are you planning on changing spark plugs ever?

Sounds about right, but I would ditch the stock cam and get something a little beefier (nothing too extreme)......also, you might want to price out a new rear and some slicks. You'll need the slicks in order not to make 14 second runs at 125 mph (you'll be spinning all the way through 3rd). That's where the rear end will come in.....with that HP, you're sure to snap that stock rear.

Get a better cam and forget the 1.7rrs. Your intake should have shorter runners. TFS Track Heat maybe? 70mm TB.
I agree with DirtKing, though. Go with more cubic inches and build a beefy n/a engine. ------------------ 351W 89 Mustang GT Convertible |
