The tremec isn't even rated for that..I think the tko might get close. The t56 is rated for 440 ft lbs, an the viper t56 is rated for 550. talk to d&d performance...they are the experts.

Cool

The only T5 that would begin to handle 450 ft/lbs of torque is the Z rated T5 it has a 2.95 first gear, and a .63 OD, this is the same trans in my dad's twin turbo 91 5.0 LX making near 500 ft/lbs of torque.

I HAVE the "z" spec T-5. It's rated for 330lb/ft of torque.

That's nowhere near what you're asking it to hold. Maybe it'd take it without slicks, probably not. If you hooked at all you'd be putting way more load on it than what it's rated for.

Yes Sky, I did change my mind, the reason is because this motor costs around 4k to build, can run on 87octane gas(thats what they tested it with & got 400hp) & gets GOOD gas milage.
I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT!!!
357 is the way to go for me!!

Sounds good. I run 87 in my 302 and it gets around 330hp out I think, so its pretty good deal.

FWIW, tranny ratings are for continuous torque demands over a periods of say 100,000 miles. Just because an engine makes more torque than the tranny is rated for, doesn't automatically mean the tranny will break.

Bowtie Eater, for your application I'd think a TKO would work just fine.

My 2 cents here.
