60 Ft. Times
Hey guys i was wondering what kind of 60 FT
times you guys get with stock control arms (if any of you still have them)& drag radials or whatever tire you run. Include how modified your motor is too, mine is old and basicly stock but I wanna get all I can out of her before she gives up and gets her rebuild with good heads ect... My sig was my first night out on drag radials By the way my best was a 1.95 60 Ft. 265/60/15's (probably improve W/shorter tire?)I launched at about 4500 & they seemed to hook good...someone give me a realistic goal ------------------ 88 GT subs,pullies,1 1/2 shorties,F.M.,3.73's,PRO 5.0 shifter,140,000 miles 8.881@78.09 Mcreary drag radials [This message has been edited by skiwesser (edited 04-19-2001).] |

I have gone a best of 1.77 on 275/50-15's BFG Dr's. That is with my T-5 and my C4. With my cam and heads the car has now gone 1.73 on slicks so we'll see how the Dr's can handle it when I get to the track next.

Mines on a stock weighted GT on 26x8.5 M/t slicks droping the clutch at 5000. Best so far is a 1.6 that with stock springs, upper control arms. Only thing I have is lower control arms, and I don't think they help much.

The upper control arms keep the axel centered and, along with the quads, control axel wind-up. They are mostly a mod done for more grip through corners. For drag racing, lower control arms are mor important. The stock lowers just flex under pressure, losing grip with the road, for drag racing you want to do the lower arms. 93CobraR: box your lowers and watch those 60s drop!

I managed 1.91 60's with Nitto drag radials size 245-50-16. My car has roughly 270FWHP, or 235rwhp. It weighs in excess of 3700lbs too. This was done with stock control arms, springs, and w/o subframe connectors
My dad's very mildly modified 91GT cuts 1.88-1.89 60's on Mickey Thompson sportsman pro tires, subframe connectors, 3.55's, and exhaust- his best ET is a 13.6 at 98.7mph with a 1.89 60'. He has replaced the upper and lower control arms, as well as swapped in 3.73's for the 3.55's, but the 60's stayed the same ------------------ 95 GT convt' 5 speed, 3.73's,FMS HD clutch, Pro 5.0 shifter, ASP alum. underdrive pulleys, Bassani offroad X pipe, 2 chmbr flowmasters, K&N w/o silencer, edelbrock performer intake, FRPP 65mm T-body, FRPP shorty headers, FRPP aluminum driveshaft.Hooker 4pt chrome car bar, Xenon/Wings West ground effects, custom interior Best ET: 13.83 Best MPH: 98.55mph with Best 60': 1.91 on Nitto DR's Homepage: <A HREF="http://www.angelfire.com/pa2/killercanary" TARGET=_blank>http://www.angelfire |

Killercanary,
Holy shiznit! Wow, your Dad is like a bat outta hell on the track with those times! What does he launch at? Does he have a manual or automatic tranny? Yeh, his car is downright impressive. It went 14.60 at 94.X mph stock. With 3.55's, cold air induction, subframe connectors, pro 5.0 shifter, underdrive pulleys, off road X pipe, borla mufflers with turndowns, 14* timing, and Sportsman Pro tires he managed a 13.73 at 97.97mph with a 1.88 60'. He just added the 3.73's (we took them out of my car when I put the 4.10's in), factory 5 UCA and LCA's, an electric fan from a 94 tempo, and a 130 amp alt. from a 95 V6 stang. This past thursday he ran the 13.6 at 98.7mph with a 1.89 60'. What he leaves at... he doesn't know, he says he goes by ear, if he looks down at the tach, he says he always messes up, but trust me, the RPM's are high. The tire pressure out back is normally 12lbs, and he doesn't powershift. The car weighs 3200lbs w/o him, spare, jack, and with a 1/4 tank of gas. With him it weighs 3370lbs. People are always coming over and asking if it juiced or something, this makes both my dad and I real happy when we can say no! He just got the Holley Systemax II for it, but it will be a while before we can get it all together. He just got the new 76mm C&L meter, and we ordered the 19lb tube for it today so he can use it now too see if we pick up any more MPH and drop some ET. You can see his car and a timeslip from last year on my website. Soon I'll have updated timeslips too. The address is http://www.angelfire.com/pa2/killercanary, look under the pics section.
