![]() Can someone help me, I need to know what I would need, or if someone has done it before, converted an early windsor block to EFI. I was thinking aftermarkey holley, but we'll see.
Ideas guys? |

![]() As long as the car your putting the engine into has the EEC-IV EEC processor and MAF sensors it isn't too hard. You need a distributor for EFI, Upper and lower intake manifold (upper from a 5.0 will fit), bigger injectors and fuel system, calibrated MAF, decent throttle body. I think I'm forgetting something but I can't think of it now. Call Holley if you like them and ask if they have a lower manifold for the 351.

![]() I'm putting the engine into a 96 Mercury Cougar.
What exactly would I need to buy to convert? And how would i get the engine to talk to my car? Wiring harnesses are probably needed, any suggestions on what car I should pull on from? |

![]() I'm not familiar with Cougars at all. Seems like we need to find out if the Cougar uses the EEC-IV computer. Maybe someone else can jump in and help. I'm trying to figure out if the '96 Cugar is the new, front whell drive model. If it is, forget it...it'd cost wayyyyy too much. If not, it shouldn't be that bad providing the EEC-IV is the computer. Are you driving the car now?? If so, get a Chilton's and find out what the processor is. I'm going to warn you know that this is going to take some research. The more you research, the more $$ you save and time too. Sounds like the exhaust will have to be heavily modified to fit the 351.

![]() Basically it is a Mustang, as much as people don't really like that, it's a 3.8L V6 with Rear wheel drive. It's a detuned mustang, lets just say that. I'll go get my manual and see what it is, it's out in the car.

![]() O.K. I am in the process of moving right now so my books are packed away but I'll dig them out ASAP and get back to you. I'm not sure what the relationship is between the 2 (EEC-IV & EEC-V) but I think that the EEC-V is the newer version, so it might not be so simple. You know, it might be a good idea to start a new thread called "Difference between EEC-IV & EEC-V CPU's" or something to that effect. I think it miht be a pain in the butt because your CPU is designed for a 6 cyl engine and firing patterns inputs. What you are actually trying to do is add 2 more inputs to the CPU which might be a little difficult. Either way, I'll get back to you. But I would definetly start a new thread to get some more feedback from others.

![]() I am about to go from a V6 EEC-V to a 351W. You have to change the computer out. I recommend getting one from some 5.0 V8. The 5.0 has the EEC-IV. Good luck.
