I can't give you an exact figure but I can pass on what I know about the weights of other cars.
Been to the dump in my 65 ford F250 many times and it weighs just under 5000 lbs. Old VW beetle's weighed 1800 lbs. I race dirttrack Pinto's and by severely gutting them I get under 2000 lbs. Camaro's, GM Metrics and what have you come in around 3000 lbs in racecar trim. I'd guess 3200 lbs or so and I'll betcha the convertibles are heavier. They have to strengthen the floor so much because there's no top so they usually weigh more than a coupe. Fastbacks typically weigh more than a coupe too because they have to have some strong hinges to raise the back deck. |

Wow! I guess I was off a little in my estimating. I had no idea Early Mustangs were that light. No wonder they're so fast!

Don't forget these weights don't include liquids. [oil, water, antifreeze, gas]. I'm sure some road dirt too. LOL

My '66 coupe weighs right at 3000 lbs with 1/2 tank of gas. I've got bigger tires , auto trans, no AC or PS. Ive added Ganada front disks and a few other performance odds and ends. With me in it, track weight is about 3250. Those shipping weights are dry weights and are not what you'll see on the street, IMHO.

My 70 coupe weighed in at an even 3500 pounds with a full tank.
Of course, approx 200lbs of that is in stereo, and I could probably drop about 50lbs if I swapped the FMX for a C4. |

Go to a scrap metal dealer and get it weighed. That's the only good way to know what the weight is, unless you go to the track. The track usually has a scale where you pull off the return road and just read the "race weight" with you and everything else in it.

I was going to include what I read in Mustang Monthly. A '67 GT-500 weights about 3200 lbs. Thats with power everything they came with at that time, and a 428.
I was wondering, does anyone know how much a '66 weights, it's got to be less then a '68, right???
