What kind of additive should I use with a stock traction lock in a 8.8?? Anyone have some tricks for getting the upper control arm bushings out?? Also, What purpose is the chunk of cast iron mounted to the center section?? Is it a vibration dampner?? And do I need it?? This 8.8 is going to replace the 7.5 in my 82 GT.....Thanks for your help...

Ford Friction Modifier - available at your local Ford dealership. Anyone have some tricks for getting the upper control arm bushings out?? I drilled mine out with a 1/2" Milwaukee drill and 1/4" bit. Also, What purpose is the chunk of cast iron mounted to the center section?? Is it a vibration dampner?? And do I need it?? This 8.8 is going to replace the 7.5 in my 82 GT.....Thanks for your help... This 'dog-bone' shaped piece is a vibration dampner and, no you don't need it if you're switching from the stock gear set. If you're keeping the stock set, then supposedly this piece helps to eliminate driveline vibrations. Hope this helps, E

Now would be THE best time to put aftermarket control arms on your car. You can pick up a set of X2C uppers and lowers for $140 bucks. And they're quality stuff, Bob Cosby runs them on his NMRA Cobra and he's well into the 11's. But if your gonna use the stock control arms, I just stock a screw driver through the middle, then beat them out with a big hammer. -Josh, aka the tireburner
