Default 85 Tranny in 87???

Quick question will a 85 T-5 work in a 87? Thanks for the help.

This guy says it is out of a 85 but it looks different from the later models.

it is different it not a world class t-5 it will work but it isn't as strong as the later model t-5.

Thumbs up trans swap

basicly same trans different torque rating's 85- weaker !answer yes
sounds like b/b coupe knows quite a bit! w/c 2.95 1st/ gear
non w/c 3.35 1st /gear .

ok heres the part #'s and specs 1985 was the first year for the world class t-5 but since ford still had some of the old t-5's left over several cars in '85 got the non world class the part # for the non world class is E4ZR-7003-DA and the gear ratios are 2.95/1.94/1.34/1.00/.625 and the part # for the 1985 world class t-5 is E5ZR-7003-FA and gear ratios are 3.35/1.93/1.29/1.00/.675 the world class while still rated at the same torque capacity as the non world class is a much better transmission I hope this will helps you in your decision. and 2fcnbd thanx for the props.
