Post 86 speed density

looking for some simple street mods. i dont know to much about speed density. only that i herd not to mess with the cam,and that the 86 has real crappy heads. will it still work on a 92 long block with a b-303 cam? also this car came with a chip in the computer will i have to change it as well?

The 86's do have crappy heads and plus they have no valve relies in the pistons. You can do pretty much any mod besides cam. Not only because of speed density but because of the pistons. If you got a 92 block a cam is possible with mass air. I plan on running an E-303 in my 86 with-out mass air, since it's not gonna be a daily driver.

As for the chip, it depends if it was custo burn't or not. If it was then it will need recalibrated. I think, The off the shelf chips don't need to be.(not sure??)

I found that an 88 S/D computer made driveability easier on my 86, but I have since switched to Mass Air and yeah, the heads are junk compared to the 87+ heads...

You can run a 92 block/pistons, etc. and do anything within its limits, but the cam will be the hardest thing to do as speed density may not like it, although there are some people on this site that are whizzes with S/D and can help you out more than I.

Myself, I went with mass air because it was inexpensive (got it from my brother) and because I know I'm going to have mods in the future that would require it..As for the chip, if its an off the shelf one, it should be okay for the future, I'd contact the manufacturer though.

The normal bolt-ons apply of course, as I ran my 86 engine with the 86 heads with headers/off-road H pipe/catback, 88 intake with the 60mm throttle body (made a noticeable improvement) and short belt..

Cool

I put a completly stock motor from a junk yard in my car. It ran 13.42 at 102. Why? The car is set up. It will 60ft 1.60s. It is light(more so now). Do the simple stuff, it will get you fast, cheap.
